IN CONVERSATION WITH LEMI GHARIOKWU, THE CREATIVE LUMINARY BEHIND FELA’S ALBUM COVER ARTS.
With numerous creative works in his portfolio, Lemi Ghariokwu is a luminary in the creative industry. Even more legendary knowing that he worked with Fela and other music legends.

I had a chat with the legendary visual artist behind Fela’s album cover arts but before the interview, I have had the privilege of informerly conversing with him. It was as if I was talking with Fela (who I never met) as his beliefs were similar to those of the music legend. In between, he mentioned, “I am a Kalakuta boy”. Indeed it took a ‘Kalakuta boy’ to create a laudable visual and brand image for the legend of Kalakuta.
He was bubbly and very much in tune with the modern age. The kind of energy you will rarely get from someone of his generation; A creative mind never grows old.

In the studio of the Pan-African artist, I chatted with him about his career then and now, how technology has impacted his job, his opinion about Nigerian youths, and working with music legends like Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Oliver De Coque, Osita Osadebe, Majek Fashek, Miriam Makeba to mention but a few.
