DISNEY ANNOUNCES COLLABORATION WITH A PAN-AFRICAN STARTUP
In 2017, three friends from Nigeria and Uganda came together to establish Kugali Media with a mission to tell African stories to the world.
Through the entertainment company, Tolu Olowofoyeku, Hamid Ibrahim, and Fikayo Adeola have created a comic book collection called “Iwaju” (a Yoruba word meaning ‘the future’ ) set in Lagos, Nigeria.
Iwaju has captured the interest of Walt Disney Animation Studios as the giant entertainment house announced that it is set to collaborate with Kugali to produce a science fiction series from the book.
The movie will be premiering on Disney Plus in 2022.
